Meet Tom

(You've surely had a candidate like this before.)

He grew up in Miami and went to college in Houston, but his first job was in Dallas. Now he’s moving to Atlanta so his wife can be closer to her family. Oh yes ... and he also worked in Tallahassee during summer break each year he was in college.

How much would a background check on this type of candidate cost with your current provider? And would you receive all the information you needed to make an informed hiring decision?

With the KRESS Essential Criminal Package, you get all the searches for a fraction of their individual costs.

Let's take a closer look at the KRESS Essential Criminal Package. With KRESS, all the counties will be searched, all the statewide indexes, all the federal courts, and all the sex offenders registries where the applicant has resided for the past 7 years.

Here are all the searches required for Tom’s background check:

  • 5 County Searches -
(Dade Co., FL, Harris Co., TX, Dallas Co., TX, Fulton Co., GA, Leon Co., FL)

  • 3 Statewide Criminal Searches -
    (Florida, Texas, Georgia)

  • 5 Federal Courts Searches -
    (S. Federal District FL, S. Federal District TX, N. Federal District TX, N. Federal District GA, N. Federal District FL)

  • 3 State Sex Offenders Registries -
    (Florida, Texas, Georgia)

  • SS Trace
(Verify use of the number, name and address information.)
How much would these 17 searches cost with your current provider? And how difficult and time consuming would it be to wade through 17 different reports on the same person?

With the KRESS Essential Criminal Package you get all 17 searches for only $2.06 each. Plus, they all come in one easy to read report. To us, that's pretty much the definition of value. We're confident that you'll agree.

Sincerely,

Jeff Rackler, CEO

Texas Agencies Not Up to Par with Background Check Procedures

A recent audit commissioned by the Texas Legislature found that 106 out of the 157 state agencies and higher education institutions surveyed need to improve their existing procedures for performing background checks.

Some specific findings of the audit include:

  • A surprising 49 agencies fail to check the backgrounds of employees with access to potentially sensitive data.
  • Two of the 45 agencies authorized or required to perform background checks on licensees said they don't do this.
  • Six agencies fail to perform background checks for license renewal.
  • Five of the 40 agencies authorized to background check contractors said they do not.
  • Fifteen higher education institutions do not currently conduct background checks on students who might come in contact with vulnerable populations, controlled substances or sensitive information.
